CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
All Sundays at the 10:30 am Liturgy.
During the 10:30 mass the children are called forth to celebrate their own Liturgy of the Word. This experience is liturgical in practice, not a class session. Under the guidance and direction of trained ministers, the children hear the Word of God adapted to their age level. The children are invited to reflect on the readings and explore ways to live out God's Word during the week. They return to the whole parish community during the Preparation of the Gifts so that we may celebrate Eucharist around the table as one family of faith.
Your Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) about Faith Festivals
What is an intergenerational whole community Faith Festival?
An intergenerational Faith Festival is an event for the entire parish community to come together to learn,
grow, & live out our faith through common, shared experiences as well as age specific interactive activities. Here at St. John's, it’s for young and old, children and adults, Deaf and Hearing, all our vast and varied households of faith, each and every one of us, all of us together.
Does this include me?
Absolutely! An intergenerational Faith Festival is for everyone, all ages & all households:
singles, couples, college students, teenagers, children, moms, dads, aunts & uncles
grandmas/grandpas, empty–nesters, young adults, retirees, snowbirds, visitors, friends, and
Catholic School Families & Public School Families, Deaf & Hearing.
What about Sacrament Prep for First Eucharist, Reconciliation or Confirmation?
Preparation programs for sacraments will be in addition & separate from monthly Faith Festivals.
How do I sign up? What will it cost?
Look for the yellow registration brochures at the entrances of the church or call the office
and we will mail you one. The registration fees depend on the size of your household
and these suggested donations help offset the costs associated with staffing and materials.
The rest of the budget comes out of the general church budget aka the weekly collection.
Intergenerational faith festivals sound interesting; how might I help support them?
There are a variety of roles for volunteers, both Deaf & Hearing. People are needed to set
up & take down, serving the meal & cleaning the kitchen. A planning team meets regularly to design
programs around themes. Adult volunteers interested in planning/leading age-appropriate activities for
children/young people are necessary. People who enjoy singing/signing music, as well as musicians can help with prayer experiences. Please let Susan know of your interest.
