St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter - "Doing the work of our founder, Jesus Christ"
The shelter is a program sponsored by churches of several different denominations in the downtown Green Bay area. The churches have pooled their resources and volunteers to provide a temporary homeless shelter during the cold winter months. It offers temporary shelter, meals, and clothing. The Shelter is located in the school building next to St. Johns at 413 Saint John Street. The shelter will be in operation until mid-April.
How to Assist with the St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter Program :

The Diocese of Green Bay is asking people to help St. John the Evangelist Homeless Shelter in Green Bay in any of these ways:
1. Volunteer at the shelter.
To learn more about volunteering or to sign up for a shift, please
contact Laura Robinson, Volunteer Coordinator, at 920-347-0828. As a
backup, people may call Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Green Bay
at 920-272-8234.
2. Donate items.
• Clients at the shelter need toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo,
deodorant, soap and toilet paper. Hotel or sample-size toiletries work
well and are welcomed. Also needed are blankets, bath towels, and
clothing (mostly men's) such as winter coats, boots, gloves and hats as
well as socks, new underwear and clothing.
• The facility needs garbage bags, kitchen and bathroom cleaning supplies.
These items may be dropped off at the rectory of St. John the Evangelist Parish, 413 Saint John Street, Green Bay, WI 54301.
3. Financial support.
Monetary donations will help pay for heat, electricity, supplies and
professional staff. Checks may be issued to “St. John the Evangelist
Parish” and sent to the address above or issued to “Diocese of Green
Bay” and sent to c/o Finance and Accounting, PO Box 23825, Green Bay,
WI 54305-3825. In the memo field of the check, please note “St. John
homeless shelter.”
4. Call your alderperson.
If you live in Green Bay, please call your alderperson and tell him or
her that you support the homeless shelter at St. John the Evangelist
Church.
